Every transaction is different, and there is always something unexpected. Most of the time, the transaction still goes smoothly. But sometimes, things can be a bit more challenging.
WBLI recently facilitated the purchase of the Moncton Honda car dealership to John Brushett, in a case of a 50% owner buying out the other 50% owner.
“There were definitely a few bumps,” says Greg Mosher, who handled the transaction with Craig Maloney and Brad Langille from WBLI. “There was a question of whether certain pieces of the land were actually owned by the business. There were also timing issues, which made it challenging to work within everybody’s desired timeline while still ensuring that all of the details were handled correctly.”
Without missing a beat, WBLI used its experience and vast expertise to complete the transaction, including assisting and advising regarding the pricing/negotiations on the offer price, financing, and tax planning matters.
“The client had a great relationship with their existing accounting firm, which we weren’t looking to supplant, but we were pleased to be able to facilitate this transaction and to provide value for all of the parties.”
