Stepping into someone else’s shoes can feel awkward, but WBLI’s Craig Maloney will be doing it with style.
Craig will be taking over as the lead of WBLI’s Corporate Finance/Mergers & Acquisitions group, replacing Partner Brad Langille, who will remain with the firm as a key member of the M&A team.
Brad says of Craig’s role with WBLI, “When Craig joined us in 2009, his timing was ideal from a number of perspectives; it enabled us to add some young leadership and talent to our corporate finance side of the business at a time when succession planning is the topic of the day. I have been saying for a few years now – Craig is my replacement.” Brad added that he will continue to work with WBLI’s corporate finance team for two more years.
Craig, 38, graduated from the University of Western Ontario, and completed his MBA at Dalhousie University. He also holds a designation as a chartered professional accountant (CPA, CA) and a CBV (Chartered Business Valuator) and is the current Atlantic representative on the national board for CBVs. He joined WBLI in 2009 after moving his wife, Sherry Scully and daughter from Toronto to Halifax. He’s quick to point out that he has a local tie and local connections. “My mom was born and raised in Dartmouth and I have two uncles (Jim and Ron Singer) currently living in Dartmouth. I used to come out here every summer as a kid for vacation and I loved it!”
When asked about his move to WBLI, Craig stated “I worked for both Ernst & Young and Deloitte in Toronto and had great experiences with them, but I really enjoy the entrepreneurial aspect of WBLI and being a part of something that I can help grow and to have a say in the future direction of the company – it’s exciting!”
“I’m excited about the opportunity to lead our team,” he adds. “We have a great group of professionals at our firm, and our M&A / corporate finance team is top notch – people like Brad Langille, Bill Vienneau, Jonathan Gallant and Chace Hynes. The M&A group has been a major contributor to the growth of the firm and I’m really looking forward to working with them to continue to assist and advise clients looking to buy or sell a business.”
Kirk Higgins, WBLI’s managing partner, commented: “Craig is an exceptionally driven and well-connected leader who brings a combination of vision and creativity along with the ability to execute which will serve our clients well.”
